Since 1973, The Prep Center has been dedicated to providing exceptional care and education for children ages 13 months to 13 years. Located in Bastrop, Louisiana, our center has earned a proud reputation as a 4-star quality rated childcare facility. Our Classrooms

At The Prep Center, our classrooms are designed to foster growth, curiosity, and a love for learning. Each classroom is equipped with developmentally appropriate materials and led by experienced, degreed teachers who are committed to nurturing every child’s unique potential. We offer a range of programs tailored to meet the needs of children at different stages of their early development.

(Ages 13-24 Months)

1 Year Old Class

Our Pre-School classroom is a warm, welcoming environment where our youngest learners begin their educational journey. Here, children are encouraged to explore their surroundings and develop essential skills through sensory play, music, and movement. Our teachers use the Frog Street curriculum, which emphasizes early language development and cognitive growth through engaging, hands-on activities.

(Ages 24-36 Months)

Our Terrific Two's

In the Pre-K 1 & 2 classrooms, children continue to build on foundational skills with a focus on early literacy, numeracy, and social interaction. Utilizing the Frog Street Curriculum, our teachers create a structured yet flexible learning environment that fosters creativity and independence. Activities are designed to enhance fine and gross motor skills, promote language development, and encourage problem-solving abilities.

(Ages 3-4 Years)

Pre-Kindergarten 3

Our Pre-K 3 program, led by Ms. Christa Sims. She has been teaching at the Prep Center for 8 years. She graduated from Louisiana Delta Community College with my A.A.S. Degree in the Care and Development of Young Children. Each school year she loves getting to know and guide the children in their development at this age.

(Ages 3-4 Years)

Pre-Kindergarten 3

Our Pre-K 3 program, led by Ms. Lauren Goings, a certified educator with a CDA and Ancillary Teaching Certificate, focuses on preparing children for their next step in education. The curriculum by Frog Street Press introduces more complex concepts in a fun and engaging way, covering early math, science, and literacy. Children participate in group activities, collaborative projects, and individual tasks that boost their confidence and readiness for Pre-K 4.

(Ages 4-5 Years)

Pre-Kindergarten 4

In the Pre-K 4 classroom, Mrs. Emily Carson, who holds a bachelor's degree, guides our children through the D.I.G - Develop Inspire Grow curriculum by Frog Street Press. This tier 1 curriculum is recognized by the Department of Education for its excellence and impact on early learning. Children engage in comprehensive, thematic units that integrate math, science, literacy, and social studies, preparing them for a smooth transition to kindergarten. Our Pre-K 4 program emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and a love for lifelong learning.

+ Holiday Care & Summer Camp

K-6th Grade After School

For our school-aged children, we offer enriching after-school programs, holiday care, and a dynamic summer camp experience. Our after-school program provides a safe and stimulating environment where children can complete homework, participate in extracurricular activities, and engage in social and recreational play. During holidays and summer camp, we offer themed activities, field trips, and various hands-on projects that make learning fun and memorable.
